Go to Target and look for their collection of CD’s by Lifescapes. I have a pretty good collection of them. The one I recommend is Pure Relaxation, if they have it. When you go in, you should hear it playing near the greeting cards section.

Oh if they don’t have what you are looking for, you can order them online. I will provide the link for you. Hope this helps you :)

Herb for Stress/Anxiety Relief?

I have a 17 year old daughter who has stress issues. During "that time of the month" she gets really bad. I would take her to the doctor, but I don’t want her on Zoloft, Paxil, etc. Does anyone know of anything that would be good to give her? I don’t really want a muscle relaxer, just something to help her cope. Thanks.

Try talking to your doctor about St John’s wort for stress. Its herbal, but herbal remedies usually have a lot of side-effects. The meds that you are afraid of have less side-effects. For that time of the month, birth control pills actually reduce PMS symptoms. Talk to your dr.

A basically breathe in and out very deeply and very fast, i
feel like i am about to faint but i never do, the only thing that
faints is the anxiety, and after i do this i feel very good, but i
started to wonder if this is unhealthy because i saw my self in the
mirror after i just did that and i looked like S…..t

Probably not good.
You might really faint one day.

But breathing can really help.
Try it this way…breathe in very slowly through your nose, hold it, then breathe out slowly through your mouth. It really helps!

I am looking for any/all input about dealing with panic and anxiety disorders and other disorders they lead to such as agoriphobia and depression.

I need this information not only for myself, but I want to help others as well.

I began having sporadic panic attacks about 10 years ago. After about 3 years of wondering what was going on (since I was getting worse) I started to do research and assumed a self diagnosis, which was later confirmed by various doctors. My worse period (daily 24/7, was between the time I was diagnosed up to abot 3 years ago. I have been doing meditaion practice for about 8 years and Tai Chi and Yoga for about 3 years. I have had some major progress, but the sensations still come and go. I don’t really get depressed, but I certainly don’t live my life as fully as most people. I am an agoraphobic and I have been taking alprazolam for situation relief or when I feel like I’m going to lose it during a relapse. Want to write more, but out of space. Thanks

Hi. I was practically crippled as a result of my panic attacks, anxiety and agoraphobia back before it was a common diagnosis. I went through the medical community for years and was told that it was ‘all in my head.’ I had everything from depression to arrythmias develop as a result of not being able to understand what was physically going on with my body and lost years of my life staring out the window, waiting to improve.
But then it happened…I found a book, ‘Hope and Help for your Nerves’ by Doctor Claire Weekes and it changed my life in a period of weeks. That book did what many, many doctors couldn’t even begin to do: Gave me my life back.
10 years later, I’m as normal and happy as the next guy and consider my life very fulfilling. From a guy who could barely leave my house for class, I eventually went on to travel the world, being on a plane for 12 hours at a time…something I wouldn’t even dream of doing all those years ago.
I’m not trying to sell the book. It’s very cheap if you get it used and it should be easy to find. I’m just saying that I KNOW it was the only thing that gave me hope and the one thing that allowed me to make improvements to eventually acheive a ‘normal’ life.
I also practiced meditation and deep breathing exercises with varying degrees of success and I think it’s a positve thing to focus on.
But the main thing with panic attacks and generalized anxiety is that one trigger can cause an entire ’storm’ in your mind. If you can remove the triggers, you can break the adrenaline cycle that follows that causes the faster heartbeat and other reactions/symptoms of a classic panic attack.
Check it out. I’ve heard many people say, ‘I can’t sit in front of a book for 2 minutes with my anxiety,’ but if you read the intro, you’ll recognize yourself and you’ll have a tough time putting it down.
Again, of everything I tried (and there were endless attempts) nothing helped me like this book. These days, people would rather take a drug than read a book (!) but those have shortcomings and pitfalls of their own. Nothing beats a good understanding of the nervous system and adrenaline system when you’re trying to overcome anxiety and panic. When you understand what happens in your body to produce symptoms, you can eventually eliminate the symptoms altogether. Honestly. It was a long road for me so I always sympathize with those who are on it. And I know what works for one may not work for all. But it’s worth a shot, and that’s coming from someone who was ready to give up completely many times over the years of my suffering.

Labor Anxiety Relief?

Ahh! That is pretty much the general statement. I am 39.5 weeks pregnant and thought I was going to have the baby at 36.5 weeks when I first went into the hospital. I am having terrible anxiety and frustration. I am getting frustrated that the baby is not here yet.. I know that these things are unpredictable, but it’s gotten to the point where I am just plain tired of being pregnant….. I do enjoy the free time that I have before the baby gets here, but every five minutes my family and friends want to know when the little guy is coming. The doctor tells me that the higher my stress and anxiety level the longer it’s going to take for labor to start… but I have run out of ideas.. it seems the littlest things set me off to be angry, anxious, or cry…. anyone else having this or had this? I’ve tried breathing techniques, I’ve tried changing my focus, but it all leads back to the beginning. Advice???

My last pregnancy i was so like you i wanted him out i even tried all the old wives tales to bring me on like drinking caster oil and hot bathes walking it felt pointless and the day i gave up is the day i went into labor so i dare say your baby is stubborn like mine was he will come when he is ready hun until then just relax a little it will all workout in the end.

Hey guys..i am 25 years old and I have been taking the birth control pills since i was 12 years old for pre menstrual relief. I am seriously quitting taking the pill or use any hormonal birth control. I am not married ( have a boyfriend of three years). We use other protection every time we have intercourse b/c neither of use are ready for children. I feel that it is not healthy to be on the pill this long, and I also feel it may be the root of my anxiety problems. My best friend recently quit nuvoring b/c her hormones were the level of an 80 year old woman, and immediately felt relief. I am confused though b/c if doctors know this pill can cause so many adverse side effects, why are they so adament about you continuing its use. When i asked my gynecologist if I should get off she replied "not until you are ready for children." I personally dont think im going to be ready for children for the next 8 years. I know that the risk is higher if you do have sex and are not on birth control, but if I use other forms of contraception I think I will be fine… thanks!

YES! I was on Loestrin and I was the most depressed I have ever been in my entire life. I was suicidal, crying every day multiple times a day. I did not feel a bit like myself. I knew it was the birth control and I decided to get off of it. I felt better and back to my old self in days. You could always try different birth controls. Different ones seem to have different side effects. Keep trying them until you find the one thats right for you, but I dont see whats so bad about stopping them for good, either.

Do you know any plants/ natural substances/ whatever that can be used to relieve anxiety and mellow you out , but aren’t drugs?

Good example: chamomile, kava, valerian, st johns wort

Bad example: weed, opium (lol)

I can’t get a doctor’s prescription for my anxiety, this is a legit question. I’m not going to use drugs.. help me out if you know.

There are some things that you can do.
there is drops or spray that can help it is called
rescue remedy if you take it on a daily bases it will help.

also there are some essential oils that can help
make sure that they are 100% pure essential oils

lavender will help you sleep. it is also very good to treat headaches/ upset tummy/ and to calm you down.

mint tea
chamomile tea
you can mix the two of them as well

there is also a tea called sleepy time tea that is good.

if you would like to use aroma therapy please feel free to email me and let me know what you would like them to do.

different combinations of oils can help with most mood problems

there are also teas that can help as well
they do not have to cost allot

but the above is a good start
