I literally cried watching this video. I know exactly how you feel. I wish more people were educated on this. I dont know how many times ive been told “its all in your head, just get over it.” really wish it was that simple, some people just dont get it.

    the planning is the …
the planning is the worst part for me. Everything has to be planned in advance…I want to be spontaneous again.

    i got really bad …
i got really bad aggrophobia about 2 years ago — i didnt leave the house unless i HAD to ie a burger :> . i know people who have had it for years+yeasr but i had it for about 2.5 years. i had to go through to get over it — i was pretty much forced to get a job by my parents and social security too. the job was for the first week and a bit better after that — but still very stressful. after about 1 month maybe a bit longer i was OK — not healthy but much much better!

    Hi,

    Hi,

I’m a film student and I’m planning to make a fictional short film about a person who has agoraphobia. I’m doing alot of research, your videos (among others) help alot. I want to have a serious go at this, though I might not be able to nail it, it’s worth the try I think… Best of luck to you, you haven’t been dealt a good hand in life. Keep looking, there must be an answer.

    This is a great …
This is a great video :-) . I’m proud of you for having the courage to talk about your issues.

I agree that the medical field doesn’t know enough about what we, as mental health consumers, go through on a daily basis. I have a pretty knowledgeable psychiatrist and therapist who work with me, so I am getting better. It’s still frustrating to think back to how much I missed when I was younger, as I am 29 years old now.

I am also currently unemployed with 2 college degrees…*sigh*

Dude! You just hit the nail on the head with that whole “paradox” thing! You know what? I’ve often wished everyone else would panic just so I could live a normal life! How evil is that? lol

    I’ve been suffering …
I’ve been suffering from these for years now. I have recently had to give up my job working as an officer for the police, it’s extremely detrimental to peoples enjoyment of living. I find it amazing that you said that having people panic around you, you somehow remain calm, I really don’t know how that works, but it’s true. I only wish there was someway I could overcome these, I feel so frustrated because of them.

    I completely agree. …
I completely agree. And people can be so judgemental about it. I have actually had people tell me I am lazy and if I was to get SSI why should they pay for me to live. That if I had to eat roaches and mice I would get a job. Sad thing is I would just have to eat bugs. I still would not be able to hold a job. A lot of people are very uncaring in this world that is for sure.

  16. lostathome01 Said:

    I have been …
I have been housebound sence jan. I have only left for dr apt bc I am tring to get ss. i have already been denied. I feel for you, and it is hard for people to understand why we stay inside. I don’t know why it’s not seen as “real” as OCD or ADD, it defenitly effects my life in a very REAL way.

  17. cutepoisonUK Said:

    Thanks for these …
Thanks for these words. I haven’t been ‘put to the test’ so far, but in two weeks my eldest will go away for 8 days. So, I hope you are right, lol. Thanks again :)

  18. silentjealousy77 Said:

    I will help ease …
I will help ease your mind. If something happened to your children you could leave. Just like if there was a fire you would exit. One thing I have noticed in most people who suffer with this is when a situation happens where everyone else panics we become calm. It is a paradox. I always joke… If a nuclear missle was coming to my city I might actually be the calmest one. That I can deal with. Super markets not so much. :)

  19. cutepoisonUK Said:

    I never thought …
I never thought there were so many people suffering from the same thing I have. I’m 38 and I’ve left the house once in 2 years. And that was disasterous. I feel quilty because my 18 year old daughter has to do so much. It’s extended now to not being able to answer my door and I live in constent fear of what I will do if something happens to one of my kids or something. I tried asking for help once – and got an appointment at the hospital – which – O – I can’t get to. Ridiculous.

    I’m on the same …
I’m on the same boat as you man. I got on disability when i was 21 because I knew it would get worse and it has. Even if you get healthcare in america it still doesnt get rid of it. because medicaid doesnt cover therepy, only drug doctors. It’s sad that people say good about america, when really america only cares about how much money you have. Repubicans make victims out of us and no one sees it but us. The only way I can get out is if my bf comes with me. If he died, im screwed.

  24. USERNAMEDSOBER Said:

    continued. i do …
continued. i do know this. working out and eating healthy foods and avoiding soda and caffiene and taking a walk in the early morning when theres nobody around will help you feel better. also talking to some one or meditation and soft sounds like birds and the ocean help. i think if all agoraphobics did not have to go to work and be around strangers and unsafe places(tall buildings, bridges, traffic and crowds)then we would be happy because we are smart and caring people who have a worldly problem

  25. USERNAMEDSOBER Said:

    Hello, i would like …
o, i would like to share my thoughts on agoraphobia. i have had agoraphobia for almost 20 years now. i hate crowds, grocery stores, bars, etc. i have lost so many jobs and friends, even my family gave me up when i was 14. my life has been a living . some times i wake up in the middle of the night and dont know where i am because i am having a panic attack. i feel like im going to die alot of the time. i have been fighting for so long, the one thing i learned is to except it.please respond
